Warner Bros. Discovery, AEW’s domestic broadcast partner, is set to launch live sports streaming on its Max platform in the fall, according to a report.

CNBC, citing sources familiar with the matter, stated that WBD is targeting an October launch for a sports tier on the streaming service.

This would coincide with the MLB playoff season. The report claims that the sports tier of Max will utilize Bleacher Report branding.

The CNBC report does not mention AEW. Potential content is noted as MLB, NHL, college sports, and NBA (pending a rights deal).

It states that, initially, the new tier of the Max service will concentrate on simulcasting live sports events alongside traditional cable.

During a Warner Bros. Discovery second-quarter earnings conference call last week, CEO David Zaslav noted on sports streaming that customers would, “hear from us on that soon.”
