Visitation & funeral information for Terry Funk

Terry Funk will be honored this week with a celebration of life followed by a funeral service in Canyon, Texas.

The 79-year-old passed away last Wednesday and had been in declining health for several years.

Visitation hours are this Thursday from 5-7 p.m. local time at the Brooks Chapel in Canyon at 1702 5th Avenue followed by a funeral service on Friday at 2 p.m. at Hillside Christian Church in Canyon.

Terry Dee Funk was born June 30, 1944 in Hammond, Indiana to Dory Funk, Sr. and Dorothy Mattlock Funk. He graduated from Canyon High School and attended West Texas State University, where he played football.

Terry fell in love with Vicki Weaver when they were in the 5th grade. Vicki disputed this. The two became best friends in high school and were later married at the First Baptist Church on August 14, 1964 while they were in college. Terry and Vicki were able to travel the world with each other, which they loved doing. They spent 54 wonderful years together before she preceded him in death on March 29, 2019.

Terry was a professional wrestler for over 50 years. He was predominantly known in the U.S. and throughout the world. During his professional career, Terry was inducted into multiple halls of fame and received numerous accolades.

Terry also had a career in film where he was an actor in multiple movies.

When Terry wasn’t wrestling or acting, he enjoyed going scuba diving and fishing.

He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and mentor to many, who loved his family dearly.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Dory Funk, Sr. and Dorothy Mattlock, and his beloved dog, Tooter Brown.

Survivors include his daughters, Stacy Clenney and Brandee Dungan; grandchildren, Daniel Clenney, Champe Clenney, and Bella Dungan; brother, Dory Funk, Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, a plethora of extended family, and his professional family including wrestlers and fans throughout the world.
