Dave Brown is set to make a special appearance when AEW Collision goes to Memphis next month.
AEW has announced that Brown will serve as a guest announcer on the October 21 edition of Collision at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. The news was released days before tickets go on sale for the event.
Brown was the decades-long meteorologist of note in the city, who gained additional notoriety through his involvement with pro wrestling.
Brown was a weatherman at WHBQ Channel 13 when Nick Gulas and Jerry Jarrett had the wrestling slot.
Together, Brown and Lance Russell became one of the most iconic broadcasting teams in wrestling history. When Jarrett split from Gulas and got television on WMC-TV Channel 5, Russell and Brown would give their notice and leave WHBQ and WMC acquired the top Saturday morning programming, the top star in Jerry Lawler, and two of the most recognizable local television personalities.
Memphis Wrestling was so integral in the market that it was a rare case of a promotion being paid for its television during this era as Jarrett would receive $1,500 per week for the Saturday morning program.
Brown previously appeared on AEW Dynamite in January 2020 and sat on commentary on AEW Dark that night.
