Fatu recounts a memory he had with MJF.
Since 2019, Jacob Fatu has been contracted to Major League Wrestling. As of this writing, he is the longest-reigning MLW World Heavyweight Champion of all-time with a total of 819 days as champion.
While Fatu was speaking about MLW and memories from his time in the organization, he was asked by MuscleManMalcolm about the current AEW World Champion and former MLW World Middleweight and Tag Team Champion, MJF.
He recounted an occasion when MJF gave him words of encouragement and told Fatu to be himself when it came to promos. Fatu added that MJF has always been honest with him and shown him love.
So when I first started talking and MLW, they got me to speak. If you know me, Jacob Fatu, I didn’t speak at all, because I did want people to enjoy the work but, I grew up, not saying it was the hard life, no. Everybody grows up different. MJF was in the back and this is when I was cutting a promo for La Parka before we wrestled at Super Fight Night. I will never forget… because we used to be downstairs in these rooms. Like three different rooms to cut promos. MJF walks in and man, just, ‘Aye uce, just keep your energy. Be you. Don’t try to cut the old Wild Samoan. Just be you bro’ and man, it was just like, ‘Just talk how you talk. Keep your energy’ and I’m telling you, I will never forget that so, and he don’t know this. But shout out to MJF though, 100 though. So it was at MLW, walked in and he was like, ‘Man, you’re doing fine bro,’ and this was cool because this is coming from a man — this is coming from a f*cking man, a cat who knows his sh*t. He could’ve easily just sh*tted on me. Like, f*ck who I am. Oh man, it’s f*cking horrible. You shouldn’t talk, because that’s how real bro is. But I know when I was there and just to touch base back on AEW, MJF, I know when I tapped in with him, he was always on my side… It wasn’t a character with him. It was pure love. I can tell when the love is there and to tap in with MJF is off the hook bro.
In the summer of 2020, Fatu signed an contract extension with MLW that will keep him with there through late 2025.
