The two are going one-on-one this Tuesday.
On October 10th, NXT and AEW Dynamite are going head-to-head. Both companies have pushed out matches and segments that are going to take place on their respective slates of programming that night.
On the NXT front, one of the bouts taking place is a singles match between former NXT Women’s Champions, Roxanne Perez and Asuka. Perez spoke about the upcoming match about during her appearance on the Hall of Fame podcast with Booker T and Brad Gilmore.
I am so ready (for the match with Asuka on NXT). I was thinking about this and Kiana James gave me a big task, I have a big task ahead of me. Asuka, Grand Slam Champion, longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion, undefeated in NXT but I think people tend to forget that I’m a prodigy. I’m ‘The Prodigy’ and I’ve been grinding since I was 13 years old, I’ve been perfecting my craft so that one day, when I made it to the WWE, I was performing at a mastery level to the likes of Asuka. So, I think I’m ready. I think I’m so ready.
It is well documented that Perez trained under Booker T at Reality of Wrestling. She recounted finding out that the WWE Hall of Famer would be joining NXT’s commentary team. Initially, Perez did not think the news was legit.
I remember being in — I think we were in film study and the notification popped up on Twitter (about Booker T joining the NXT commentary team) and I was like, this is fake. This is probably an edit and then Kevin (Bernhardt) messaged me and was like, ‘Guess what?’ And I was like, ‘Oh! No way.’ But yeah, I thought that-that was gonna be super cool because I remember — I can’t remember exactly what match it was but I remember I would always say, ‘Oh, one of my dream kind of things is for Booker to commentate one of my matches one day’ and then he did at Reality of Wrestling and then now you’re the commentator at NXT and I’m like, wow, this is pretty cool. Just speak things into existence.
There is going to be audio and written coverage of both NXT and AEW Dynamite here on POST Wrestling. Keep an eye on the site for the latest coming out of those shows.
