During Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision, Claudio Castagnoli claimed in a promo segment that Bryan Danielson had a broken orbital bone.

Later in the broadcast, Tony Schiavone added that the injury would require surgery and that Danielson was expected to sit out the rest of the year.

The statements appear to confirm that the injury is legitimate, after some uncertainty surrounding the ending to this past Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

Wednesday’s main event was a tag team match between Danielson & Castagnoli, and Orange Cassidy & Kazuchika Okada. At the end of the match, Danielson took both an Orange Punch and a Rainmaker in quick succession. He was then tended to by ringside medics after grabbing his face.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider cited “AEW sources” on Saturday night as saying that the injury is not part of a storyline.

Danielson had previously been out with injury after breaking his arm at Forbidden Door on June 25th. He returned at AEW All Out on September 3rd, defeating Ricky Starks in a No-DQ Strap Match.
