AEW Collision results and notes: Sting, Darby Allin and Adam Copeland join forces in main event, Full Gear matches announced

AEW Collision took place in Oakland, California, for an episode taped on Friday night after this week’s live edition of Rampage.

Of particular note on the show were several announcements:

  • ‘Hangman’ Adam Page will face Swerve Strickland at Full Gear in a Texas Death Match.
  • Big Bill and Ricky Starks will defend their AEW Tag Titles in a four-way match against LFI, House of Black, and FTR, also at Full Gear.
  • Kris Statlander will defend her TBS Championship in a three-way match at Full Gear against Julia Hart and the winner of Skye Blue vs. Red Velvet, which takes place next week.
  • A 12-man round-robin tournament named the AEW Continental Classic will begin on November 22, with the winner crowned at AEW World’s End on December 30.

** On commentary were Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness.

** The episode kicked off with Andrade El Idolo taking on Daniel Garcia.

Andrade was accompanied by CJ Perry, who was making her managerial debut. As they stood in the ring, Miro was shown watching on a monitor backstage, looking furious.

This was an even and very solid match-up, which lasted the better part of 20 minutes, but Andrade prevailed in the end. El Idolo channelled his wife, Charlotte Flair, winning with the Figure Four into a Figure Eight for the tap. Perry played no meaningful part in the actual match.

** Next up was Nick Wayne vs. Dalton Castle. Wayne was accompanied to the ring by both Christian Cage and Luchasaurus. Dalton had The Boys in tow, as ever. Christian Cage played the “father figure” part to a T, imparting advice to Wayne throughout the match.

The veteran had the better of the younger man for the majority of the match but Wayne got the win after a piece of distraction when Luchasaurus choke-slammed both the boys at once. Cage gave Wayne a big fatherly hug after the bell.

** There was a fiery ‘Hangman’ Adam Page promo, announcing that his match with Swerve Strickland will be a Texas Death Match. This was made official by Tony Khan.

** Rush & Dralistico got the better of The Workhorsemen in a solid and physical tag match.

** Backstage, The House Of Black told the Tag Team Champions they are coming for the Titles at Full Gear. Julia Hart told Kris Statlander she wants a shot at the TBS Women’s Championship at the PPV if she beats Willow Nightingale.

** Kris Statlander said she will defend the TBS Championship at Full Gear in a three-way match against the winner of Julia Hart vs. Willow Nightingale, and the winner of Skye Blue vs. Red Velvet, which will take place next week.

** Roderick Strong defeated Darius Martin. He arrived and left in a wheelchair. Martin was attacked by The Kingdom after the match, with Action Andretti running out to help.

** Tony Khan and Bryan Danielson were shown together backstage. Khan said that Danielson will be taking part in AEW All In 2024. Danielson said he thought All In 2023 was one of the best shows he’d ever seen. 

Khan also announced the AEW Continental Classic, a round-robin tournament, with the final to take place at AEW World’s End on December 30. Danielson was announced as the first entrant.

** Julia Hart defeated Willow Nightingale and will therefore face Kris Statlander for the TBS Championship at Full Gear in the three-way match announced earlier. The third participant will be determined next week.

** Backstage, Ricky Starks & Big Bill were told that they will have to defend their AEW Tag Team Championships in a four-way at Full Gear against LFI, House of Black, and FTR.

** Paul Wight joined commentary for Powerhouse Hobbs in a squash match against Titus Alexander. Hobbs and Wight squared up to each other after the match and a Don Callis promo. 

** FTR reacted backstage to the news of the four-way match at Full Gear for the AEW Tag Titles.

** The main event saw Sting, Darby Allin and Adam Copeland take on Lance Archer and The Righteous. This was an entertaining crowd-pleaser of a multi-man match.

The babyfaces won with Sting delivering the Stinger Splash on Vincent, followed by a spear by Copeland to pick up the pinfall win.

After the match, Christian Cage’s music hit and he came out to stare down the winners, flanked by Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne.
