On Friday, the WWE announced through the Houston Chronicle that the 2020 Royal Rumble will take place from Minute Maid Park next year.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, January 26th, 2020 at the home stadium of the Houston Astros making it the second consecutive year the Rumble will take place from a baseball stadium.

The announcement was made in advance of this Sunday’s Elimination Chamber event in Houston. Those in attendance at the Toyota Center this Sunday will have access to a pre-sale offer when tickets go on sale for the Royal Rumble.

There was no mention of the surrounding events over Royal Rumble weekend with NXT TakeOver, Raw, and SmackDown Live earmarked for the host city of the big four events. By next January, SmackDown will have moved to Fox on Friday nights and will no longer be a Tuesday night event.

The last time Houston hosted the Royal Rumble was in 1989 at The Summit, which was the first pay-per-view version of the show.
