Conor McGregor has announced his return to the octagon, facing Michael Chandler in a middleweight contest.

The fight is set for Saturday, June 29th, 2024, during UFC International Fight Week.

In a video posted to X on Sunday, McGregor, drinking red wine, said:

Ladies and gentlemen, a Happy New Year to you all. I’d like to announce the return date for myself, the Notorious Conor McGregor — the greatest comeback of all time. It will take place in Las Vegas for International Fight Week on June 29th. Come a little closer. And the opponent, Michael Chandler. And the weight, Mr. Chandler, 185 pounds. [Laughter.]

Chandler soon responded with a post of his own, stating:

I always said I wanted you at your biggest, your baddest and your best. 185 would look good on me.

The pair were opposing coaches on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter.

Both men have previously competed mainly in the lightweight division (155 pounds).

Conor McGregor has not fought since UFC 264 on July 10th, 2021. At that event, fought at lightweight, he lost to Dustin Poirier when he broke his tibia.

Chandler’s last fight was also against Poirier, losing by submission at UFC 281 on November 12th, 2022.
