WWE referee Jason Ayers has stated that he will be sidelined for a couple of months with an injury.

Taking to Instagram, Ayers stated:

When they say “break a leg” I don’t think this is what they meant.

Looks like I’ll be on the sidelines for the next couple months!

In a post on X from Friday night while SmackDown was still airing, he simply posted: “Ouch.”

The cause of the injury is not yet known. He was seen in the opening angle of Friday’s episode of SmackDown as part of the team of officials attempting to restore order after The Bloodline took out Cameron Grimes.

During the segment, he can be seen hopping on one leg.

In an earlier Instagram post at Orlando International Airport on Thursday, Ayers appeared fine as he outlined his travel plans for SmackDown in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Today is Ayers’ 42nd birthday.
