Dragunov wants to honor the title match that Williams earned.
At NXT New Year’s Evil, Ilja Dragunov was supposed to defend his NXT Championship against men’s Iron Survivor Challenger winner Trick Williams. The match did not take place due to an ‘injury’ that Dragunov suffered at the hands of Ridge Holland.
Dragunov was present on the 1/16 NXT and he approached Williams as he was chatting with Carmelo Hayes. Dragunov felt he let Williams down, so he wants to grant him his title match on a big stage. He stated that he’ll be defending the title against Trick at NXT Vengeance Day on February 4th.
Williams was excited, but Hayes was not as ecstatic because in the show opener, him and Williams bested Malik Blade and Edris Enofe to advance to the semifinals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The Dusty Classic final is taking place at Vengeance Day.
