Belair finds the idea interesting but enjoys being a babyface.
Since arriving to WWE’s main roster in 2020, Bianca Belair has been positioned in a babyface role. Throughout this run, Belair has three Women’s Title reigns to her name and a Royal Rumble win.
The idea of transitioning back into a heel was discussed during Belair and Montez Ford’s appearance on The MMA Hour With Ariel Helwani. Belair stated that she enjoys being a babyface but if she were to switch, she’d want to be the ‘right type of heel’.
She went on to add that she had fun as a heel in NXT but feels she was more of a ‘cool heel’. Belair thinks she did not benefit anyone other than herself. She credited Bayley for being a great heel to her babyface.
So I love being the good guy, love being a babyface because it puts purpose to what I do and I feel like it has a bigger impact and I’m able to do stuff in the community and I’m able to — it’s just very purposeful, inspirational, impactful. But that being said, when I was heel in NXT, it was so much fun… I feel like being a heel is a lot easier. It’s a lot easier to get people to not like you then to get people to like you and keep liking you and keeping it fresh and when you’re a babyface, in order for me to have the attitude and come back, I have to have somebody who provokes me. They have to bring it out of me, so I need that good heel like a Bayley, who brings it out of me. Otherwise, I just end up looking like a heel but, a heel, it’s a lot of fun. You’re not in a box, you can kind of do whatever you wanna do and I do feel like I have more attitude. But, at the same time, in NXT, I feel like I was a heel but — I was a bad guy but, if I ever turned heel now, I wanna be the right type of heel and I feel like I was the cool heel in NXT which I feel like it didn’t really benefit anyone but myself. I got myself over and if I’m in there with a babyface that’s not as established, it’s very hard for them. I learned when I got to the main roster how great it is to work with an amazing heel like Bayley when I first came in. The reason why I think that I hit the ground running as a good guy when I came in was I had this amazing heel who, she was an established — very over and she helped me, helped introduce me to the audience and helped people get to know me and care about me. That’s what I wanna do if I ever turn heel so I won’t be the heel that you like and cheer for.
Belair is scheduled to participate in the 2024 women’s Royal Rumble. Thus far, Belair, Bayley, Nia Jax, Becky Lynch, Maxxine Dupri and Ivy Nile are announced for the match.
