Highlights from the call.
The fifth installment of AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view is scheduled for March 3rd from Greensboro, North Carolina. The event will feature Sting’s last match as he’ll team with Darby Allin to defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson).
Days out from the event, company President Tony Khan hosted his pre-event media call and below are highlights from the session:
- Khan says the present is exactly where he hoped they would get with AEW hosting Sting’s retirement and giving him the send off he deserves.
- He spoke highly of new hire Jennifer Pepperman. She’s been at recent shows and is fitting in great.
- On the idea of Kamille joining the company, Khan said ‘never say never’ and thinks she’d be a great fit.
- Khan shares that Sting joked that he’ll come back to AEW after his retirement and put on a headset.
- When asked about media rights, he thinks it’ll be an exciting year for AEW and it’s important they keep up strong results.
- Khan was asked if Jennifer Pepperman being hired is correlated to the renewed focus on AEW’s women’s division. He said he’s enjoyed working with the women’s division and that locker room has never been more energized. He added a lot of new people and has enjoyed working with them.
- Further speaking on Pepperman, he said she’s not limited to focusing on one story and can add to their overall team.
- Khan states that Daniel Garcia would be a great champion in any company with any title.
- Speaking about Samoa Joe, he said Joe is the most high quality champion one could ask for.
- Some of the wrestlers he was hoping to have in Meat Madness are sidelined, adding that Miro and Keith Lee are not available.
- Khan could see there being nine-to-10 AEW pay-per-views in 2024.
- He was asked who is on AEW’s disciplinary committee and said trained professional including two attorneys and Bryan Danielson.
