Strong is grateful for the training he was doing that created space in his joints.
On the November 18th edition of AEW Rampage, Roderick Strong went one-on-one with Action Andretti. There was a spot in the match where Andretti and Strong went for a Spanish Fly, but Strong landed on the top of his head.
Referee Stephon Smith pulled Andretti off of Strong as he was making a cover so AEW/ROH ringside doctor Michael Sampson could check on Strong.
The match did resume. Strong reflected on that moment while on Insight with Chris Van Vliet. He’s grateful for the training he does that creates space in his joints.
Oh, very much so (the Spanish Fly spot with Action Andretti was scary)… I immediately checked everything, like, okay, I’ve felt it at its worst. Oh, this just feels normal, I’m fine, you know what I’m saying? And then it just made me super grateful for the training that I was doing, because a lot of it is creating the space in your joints and my vertebrae and working on my flexibility. I was just thankful for that.
Speaking about his future and potentially wrestling into his later years, Strong mentioned that he’s open to producing and wants to open his own dojo.
It all depends on how I feel (Strong responded when asked if he could wrestle into his 50s), and if I keep doing the things I need to do and obviously, my goal was to improve the stuff that I’m doing. Especially as science continues to improve and more stuff comes out and what’s going to help. Yeah, I mean, I’d love to. I will always be a part of wrestling no matter what. Some aspect of me will be involved for the rest of my life. For sure (as a producer). I’d like to open a little school. I know there’s a lot of them but, like a small, more personalized dojo-style school. Take a crack at that because I feel like that’s something that I’d really love to do and, you know, giving people the best opportunity that I can with what I know and people I know.
Coming up on March 3rd, Strong is going to be in action at AEW Revolution where he’ll challenge Orange Cassidy for the International Championship.
