LA Knight feels the arrest & security guard disguise angles helped him & AJ Styles’ WrestleMania match from being lost in the shuffle

He feels the angles have put eyes back on their storyline.

One of the matches on the bill for night two of WrestleMania 40 is A.J. Styles versus L.A. Knight. On the lead-up to their match, there was an angle shot with Knight showing up to Styles’ home and looking for a fight. He was ‘arrested’ as a result.

To follow up on that, Knight disguised himself as a security guard and ambushed Styles on the 4/29 SmackDown. While sitting down with The Ringer Wrestling Show, Knight expressed his feeling that those angles helped prevent their WrestleMania match from getting lost in the shuffle.

There’s no titles on the line (in my match against A.J Styles), there’s no gimmicks to this match. It’s just (a) straight-up singles match, and to be featured like that, considering everything that’s going on and to have made the noise we’ve made. If I’m honest, yeah, I think we might’ve gotten lost in the shuffle for a little bit but once we had the arrest angle happen and with last week and everything, I think we made enough noise now to get some people looking our way again and I think once we get to Mania, this Sunday, I think we’re gonna turn it up a little bit more and have some people talking some more so we’ll see.

Looking back at Knight’s rise in WWE, the focus shifted over to Money in the Bank 2023. Knight admitted that there was 100 percent a moment when he thought he was going to win the briefcase.

I’ve been the heel I guess so to speak from the start and I guess I was still that in that moment but I was kind of the asshole that everybody liked. In that scenario though, when you’re starting to kind of make that turn, I don’t know, it feels like a strange position to have the Money in the Bank briefcase if you’re that character. I don’t know… That seems tailor-made for the asshole… Oh yeah, 100 percent (there was a moment that I thought the 2023 men’s Money in the Bank briefcase would be going to me).

At WWE’s media junket on 4/5, Knight and Styles ran into one another and began brawling.
