Ripley’s year-long reign as champion continues.
Kicking off WWE WrestleMania XL was Rhea Ripley defending the Women’s World Championship against Becky Lynch. Ripley was performed to the ring by ‘Motionless In White’ who did a live rendition of Ripley’s ‘Demon In Your Dreams’ theme song.
As Becky Lynch was making her to the ring, Michael Cole said on commentary that Lynch has been ill and she is dealing with strep throat.
The closing sequence of the match saw Ripley hit Lynch with her ‘Riptide’ finisher into a turnbuckle and then she hit the move again and pinned Lynch to retain. Ripley has been in possession of her title since WrestleMania 39.
Becky Lynch confirmed that she is in the last two months of her current WWE deal.
