AEW’s quest to find new tag team champions will culminate soon.
The grand finals of AEW’s Tag Team Championship tournament are set, as FTR’s Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood will take on Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks at AEW’s next pay-per-view event, Dynasty, on April 21.
Both tag teams earned a spot in the title match after making it through a busy eight-tag team tournament. The bracket was created after the team of Sting and Darby Allin relinquished their titles earlier this year.
FTR overcame Dante and Darius Martin of Top Flight on this Saturday night’s of AEW Collision to secure a spot in the finals. Earlier in the week, the Young Bucks overcame Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta to punch their ticket to Dynasty.
The finals sets up another chapter in a storied AEW rivalry. The Bucks and FTR have collided in high-profile tag matches in the past, meeting at All In 2023 and Full Gear 2020.
The winners later this month will become AEW’s first-ever three-time tag champs. FTR and The Young Bucks are currently the only teams who have held the tag titles twice, through the 13 different reigns that have been booked. Since the belts were launched in 2019, FTR and The Bucks have possessed the belts for a combined 550 days.
Matt and Nick Jackson will be trying for the belts for the second time this year. Under their new on-screen EVP personas, The Bucks were on the losing side of Sting’s retirement match at AEW Revolution last month.
