Ospreay felt like he belonged.

One of the matches on the marquee for AEW’s Dynasty pay-per-view was the singles match between Bryan Danielson and Will Ospreay. At the end of their 32-minute bout, Ospreay came out on top.

He opened up about the match again while sitting down with Teasy and AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland on the Swerve City Podcast

Ospreay shared that going into his matches with Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho, he felt like he was punching up. When it came time for the bout with Danielson, Ospreay genuinely felt he was on par with the person standing across the ring from him.

I’ve been trying to tell people this for a while. I’ve been feeling sick and I don’t know whether it’s anxiety or maybe it’s just the exhaustion from traveling back and forth so much. But that’s a real thing. Every single week, I get on a flight from London Heathrow and I go to whatever state that I’m required to go to (in) America. Sometimes they’re nice flights, like six hours. Sometimes they’re like eight, nine, 10-hour ones. I’m looking forward to it (west coast loops). Trust me on that. But, I’ve been feeling sick, like in all of my matches. Even the one against Cesaro, at one point, I genuinely thought I was going to throw up in the ring so I don’t know if it’s exhaustion, if it’s my body telling me to slow down and whatnot, right? But then, I got in there with Bryan (Danielson) and I was so… I kept saying to myself, don’t be sick. Gotta be in control of all this… I’m not even joking, the moment the bell rang, like even just beforehand when I was looking at him, I just mouthed to him and went, ‘This is gonna be a pleasure’ and then I stepped back and the moment that bell rang, there was nothing. There was nothing blocking me, there was nothing making me feel like I don’t belong here. Even when I’d done the Kenny (Omega) match and the (Chris) Jericho match, I still feel like I was punching up. For the first time, I genuinely felt like I was meant to be a part of this. I felt going in there against somebody that I consider the best wrestler in the world, I consider him the greatest to ever do it. At no point did I ever think I was gonna be opposite this man at all and now here he is standing there and I just felt like I was on your level. It just felt amazing.

Ospreay is going to be back in action on pay-per-view at AEW Double or Nothing on May 26th. He’ll be challenging Roderick Strong for the International Championship.
