The title design was suggested by Allysin Kay.

Before the start of the NWA Powerrr era, the organization ran several pay-per-views a year and did joint events with independent promotions.

For the launch of Powerrr, a throwback World Women’s Championship design was introduced for then-champion Allysin Kay. As she was doing a virtual signing for Captain’s Corner, she shared that she suggested the title revert to the Mildred Burke design with the champion’s face on the centerpiece.

Kay won the title at Crockett Cup 2019. She feels the Burke design is better than the gold belt that existed prior to the switch. Another option on the table was the silver belt that Jazz held.

I got to be the first Women’s Champion of the (NWA) Powerrr era too. That’s very special to me and actually, I was the one, which some people might be mad about this, but I was actually the one who suggested that we go back to the old school style championship belt which is now known as The Burke which has the faceplate in the middle and I know some people hated it, but I still stand by it. I love that design. It was the original design of Mildred Burke’s title and I think a lot of people complained that it was too small, which I just think is silly. Mildred Burke’s was actually much smaller than the one that they have now and the one that I held. But that old school design, I just felt like it fit the old school vibe they were trying to go with, to try to recreate and it’s different, you know? No one has the faceplate in the middle of the title. I still love it. I don’t care what anyone says but, you either loved it or you hated it-it seemed and in my personal opinion, it was much better than the (gold belt that was in place prior to)… I feel like The Burke is so much better than the belt… that was just like a solid gold plate and you couldn’t even really see the detail in it, unless you were right up close. So, I feel like it was a huge improvement, and the other option was the one that Jazz held prior, which, I almost — it was up for debate actually. When I won the NWA Women’s World Championship for the first time against Santana Garrett, it was either going to be that gold one which was the one that Santana had held when she was the champion because remember, we were wrestling for a vacant championship because I was supposed to wrestle Jazz for her current championship. She had to vacate due to health issues I believe and personal issues. I think that was her actual statement. Her belt that she had at the time was like a silver one and it just didn’t look like anything special in my opinion. Obviously, not her fault but, I just felt like NWA needed something that really stood out and I don’t think that anyone can deny that The Burke stood out whether you liked it or not or you didn’t like it.

The Burke is still the World Women’s Title design for the NWA. Kenzie Paige is the current champion and she’s been in possession of it since August 2023

There is a movie that is coming out about Burke titled ‘Queen of the Ring’. The likes of Kamille and Naomi starred in it
