In the headlining match of NJPW Resurgence, Jon Moxley bested Shota Umino to retain the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. As the two talents were showing respect to one another, they were ambushed by HOUSE OF TORTURE’s EVIL and Ren Narita. EVIL said f*ck Moxley and stuck claim to being the next challenger to his title. EVIL would correct himself and said he’s the real champion and Moxley is the challenger. He then spray painted the title.
HENARE has not been in action since The New Beginning in Osaka in February. A vignette of his aired and he made it clear that he’s coming after the NEVER Openweight Championship. The title is in Shingo Takagi’s possession as he defeated Yuya Uemura at Resurgence to retain. After Shingo’s win, he held up Uemura’s KOPW Championship.
There was an NJPW World TV Title match that saw Jeff successfully defend against Lance Archer. Cobb’s next challenger stepped up in the form of Tomohiro Ishii.
Stephanie Vaquer’s reign as STRONG Women’s Champion continued. She picked up a win over Alex Windsor.
Along Tetsuya Naito, Yota Tsuji scored a win over KENTA and IWGP Global Champion David Finlay in a tag match. It was Tsuji’s first bout in the USA.
On the Kickoff show, TNA X Division Champion Mustafa Ali picked up the victory over Lio Rush. Ali won the match by using the ropes to leverage a pin. Rush tried to alert the referee about how Ali won, but while he was doing do, Ali attacked him. The lights cut out and when they came back on, Rush was in his ‘Blackheart’ character.
