WWE has announced that Zelina Vega is not medically cleared for her first-round Queen of the Ring tournament match with Shayna Baszler.

Vega will be replaced by Maxxine Dupri. The match is set to take place at a WWE live event in Macon, Georgia, on Sunday.

WWE Raw’s on-screen general manager broke the news on social media.

He said:

I have a bit of unfortunate injury news. Zelina Vega will not be medically cleared to compete tonight, and therefore will be stepping out of the Queen of the Ring tournament, which is unfortunate.

Given her past history as a Queen of the Ring, it would have been nice to see her try to regain that crown. But the injury bug strikes again, which opens the door to opportunity for one Maxine Dupree, who will receive the biggest opportunity of her young career. She will step in tonight against Shayna Baszler…Injuries happen, guys, that’s just the way it is.

Zelina Vega won the first, and so far only, Queen of the Ring crown in 2021.
