** The Countdown show was hosted in Jeddah in front of local fans by Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Big E and Wade Barrett. Kayla Braxton and Kevin Owens took the place of Cole and Graves partway through.

** The sole match on the pre-show saw WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair retain against Indi Hartwell & Candice LeRae. Cargill sold her knee injury throughout. The end came with a Wheelbarrow DDT by Cargill into a suplex by Belair on LeRae for the pinfall.

** The first match of the main card was for the Women’s World Championship. Dominik Mysterio messed up in trying to help Becky Lynch retain, instead helping Liv Morgan win the title.

** The biggest reception of the show so far was reserved for Sami Zayn, who was treated like a hometown hero for his triple-threat Intercontinental Title defense against Chad Gable and Bronson Reed.

Deep into the match, Otis hesitated in helping Gable. After taking a slap from his coach, Otis wound up attempting to hit Zayn with a big clothesline but Sami got out of the way and he ran over Gable instead. This allowed Zayn to get back into the ring and hit Reed hit with the Helluva Kick to retain his title.

** Next up was the finals of the Queen of the Ring tournament. Nia Jax won the match and will challenge for the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.

** In a backstage segment, Becky Lynch revealed that she had a rematch clause for her title and wanted to exercise it on Monday’s episode of Raw.

** It was the finale of the men’s tournament next, as Gunther and Randy Orton faced each other for the King of the Ring crown. In front of a very hot crowd, Gunther emerged victorious and will get a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.

** WWE’s return to Saudi Arabia was announced for Crown Jewel on Saturday, November 2nd in Riyadh.

** Backstage, Triple H announced that Drew McIntyre was cleared to compete and would face Damian Priest at Clash at the Castle for the World Heavyweight Title on June 15th.

** In the main event, Cody Rhodes faced WWE United States Champion Logan Paul for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. There was to be no upset as Cody retained, but Logan Paul’s stock was raised in a competitive match in which he held his own.

Indeed, Paul got the better of Rhodes in the first part of the match. Despite an agreement not to use his trademark brass knuckles, he was passed a set by one of his entourage and blasted Cody in the stomach. A stand-up row with Michael Cole allowed Cody time to recover, however.

The end came when guest ring announcer Ibrahim Al Hajjaj distracted Paul, who was about to use the brass knuckles again. Cody hit the CrossRhodes three times and got the pinfall.
