The latest in the sex trafficking lawsuit.
Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon filed a motion to have the court-ordered stay of lawsuit lifted that was filed by Janel Grant. The former employee filed a sex trafficking lawsuit against McMahon, John Laurinaitis and WWE.
A statement from McMahon’s lawyer was issued to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics:
Today’s motion is in response to Ms. Grant’s flagrant violation of the federal Stay Order. After telling the Federal Court that she would pause her lawsuit, Ms. Grant immediately violated the Stay Order seeking one-sided discovery for her own benefit. Her lawyer told the media that the information sought in the new Connecticut state action is ‘to assist in our claims in the federal action.’ We are asking the federal Court to ensure that Plaintiff abides by the Court’s order and if she does not that civil contempt and financial sanctions may result.
McMahon is inquiring about a limited lifting of the stay to enforce it. Janel Grant’s attorney, Ann Callis, issued a statement to Wrestlenomics and it was the same statement that was provided after a spokesperson for McMahon said Grant requesting medical records from Dr. Carlon Colker was a violation of the aforementioned court-ordered stay.
McMahon is asking the court to not allow Grant to use any of the materials that could be discovered through the requested medical records.
