Liv Morgan retains Women’s World Title at WWE SummerSlam with assist from Dominik Mysterio

Dominik officially aligns with Liv.

Kicking off the SummerSlam Premium Live Event was the WWE Women’s World Championship match between Rhea Ripley and the champion Liv Morgan. Ripley was accompanied to the ring by Dominik Mysterio.

Referee Eddie Orengo sported a ‘ref cam’ for the bout. There was a point in the match when Morgan introduced a steel chair, but Ripley would end up with it in her possession. As she was about to use it, Dominik stopped her and reminded her she could not win the title via disqualification.

The backend of the match saw Dominik slide the chair into the ring and he grabbed the referee’s attention. Morgan went on to hit the ‘Oblivion’ on Rhea and sent her into the chair. She scored the win to retain the title and the cameras cut to Dominik, who was smiling.

On the outside of the ring, Dominik lifted Morgan up, kissed her and they left the stage area together. Later on, there was a backstage segment with Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Finn Bálor, Carlito & J.D. McDonagh).

Priest stormed into their clubhouse to ask if anyone knew about Dominik’s plans. He grabbed up Bálor and the current World Tag Team Champion denied knowing anything.
